Plastics are forever

Plastic Paradise: The Great Pacific Garbage Patch Trailer from Angela Sun on Vimeo.

Yup, it’s HOT, folks. It’s amazing how hot it has been for the last few weeks and what’s worse, it will get worse before it gets better. It’s a much needed reminder of how perilous our weather has become, and how unstable our environment’s been. And yes, it is OUR fault for not taking care of the earth.

I don’t mean to sound like a nagger, but it’s the truth, and the truth hurts. After watching this documentary, it pains me to see how the little things we barely notice actually amount to some major changes that affect us all. What remains is not pointing fingers to whoever is responsible (because let’s face it, we all are) but doing something about it, even in our small way.

So yeah, let’s get those reusable bags to work, to the office, to anywhere we go. Those cups and tumblers we buy from coffee chains? Why not bring those everywhere and use those to take out your drinks (and say no to those takeaway cups)? Reusable bags aren’t just for groceries. Say no to those plastic bags if you’re getting less than 5 items from the store.

Note to self: PLASTIC lasts forever, and at the cost of our lives.
