Hugo’s Nollywood

These arresting images by South African artist Pieter Hugo are so vivid you can’t stop yourself from staring at them. I especially love the use of color and carefully created setups of each one, which added drama to the subject and making the picture a lot more interesting. Hugo’s “Nollywood” (a.k.a. Nigeria’s film industry) photos’ narratives were based on the film industry’s storylines, providing strong images that carried more story than any dialogue could.
