RIP McQueen

Well-known designer Alexander McQueen‘s untimely death shocked everyone, especially those in the fashion world.

I didn’t know him as well as most people i know do, but his legacy of fashion innovation and creativity has made him established enough to be known as a brand/label. His cutting-edge designs are innovative and beautifully done. I am especially fond of his pattern-filled frocks and impossibly high heels, legendary on the fashion circuit as one of the hardest heels to walk in on the runway.

His fashion shows are always well-attended and for good reason too: his shows usually showcase a flair for the dramatic, ranging from the music, lights and yes, those darn high heels accenting his fantastic designs. His recent runway had alien-inspired prints, lots of “fluid” colors and yes, an array of scary-high heels that scarcely resemble shoes. Needless to say, it got me hooked into watching the entire show.

With 2010 just starting, it’s heartbreaking to hear of someone with so much promise and passion die so suddenly and so tragically. Perhaps he is in a better place now. RIP, McQueen.
